We went to Hilcrest, even though it wasn't the closest, but I knew they had a Ped ER and would have our info on file.
James did very good on the way keeping pressure on it and we were able to keep our mind off of it by watching tv in car. We got there and got right in. Took a little while for the doctor doctor to come in. OF course I wanted to take a picture of the before ear before they did anything but I forgot my phone in the car. was so bummed. Anyway resident doctor came in and looked at his. then pulled it apart. It was worse than I originally thought. imagine a piece of licorice and cutting it in half but not all the way through. yuck. Very thankful for the tv in the room with cartoons on so he could focus on that. I then think the resident realized he didn't want to 'deal' with it and the doctor doctor came in. OF course the most painful part was the needle for local numbing, but James being James he still cried and screamed when doctor was putting the 6 stitches in! Such fun. Thankfully we had a great nurse, who talked to James and tried to keep him calm.
Eli was super good the whole time. Thank goodness for Itouches! he just sat there, played with the Itouch, ate his crackers, and occasionally looked up to see what was wrong with his brother. :-) Afterwards they both got stickers, silly bands, and Popsicles.
These pictures aren't the best, but you kind of get an idea.
OUCH! Glad you stayed calm:)
