Oh My! Shoes Galore!!

All I can say is that you HAVE to come to this next year!  Woldwide Wolverine company is a shoe company headquartered here in Rockford and have more than 12 different shoe brands.  On average I would say the average cost for a pair of shoe is at least $90.  Their clothes $60+, coats over $150.

Apparently 1 day a year they have this Mega sale and ALL the proceeds go to United Way of Michigan.  This sale is called their Sample Shoe sale.  I guess in years past, sample shoes were mostly just 6&7 for women and 9-12 for guys.  that was it.  Well they have now expanded their shoe collections and there are tons of shoes and they just keep restocking from 2pm til 7pm.

I had no idea about this sale until Jeff's co-workers informed me about it.  I was told that it started at two, but that they were giving away tickets or something.  I drive in around 12:30 and the place was already packed!!

This is what I am walking up to.  Inside this tent is everything.  This is 5 ques about 30 yards long!  The boys and I got in at the end of line and were told we were around 500.  They only let 300 in at a time.  100 at a time and then when they hit 300, for every 10 that leave, 10 more go in.  I still had no idea what I was getting into.  I couldn't see anything with all the people.  I am seeing people bringing boxes and bags, Ikea bags, Thirty-one totes.  Luckily I had a very nice couple behind me and I asked them what I was getting into.  they luckily had an extra Ikea bag and gave it to me.  Apparently this event is like those Bridal Gown events where Designer dresses go on sale for 90% off and everyone goes crazy, but this is for shoes!  luckily is more civilized than that!

Here is a quick video of people before the Sprint guy came around and gave my boys some toys.  Around 1:30 they were ready and started to let people in early.  I get near the front of all the ques and decide to take a video of what I am experiencing and this is what I taped.  Be sure to listen to what the guy is saying.

That's right, please LIMIT yourself to 40 pair of shoes!  Seriously, only 40! :-)  then appraently people got crazy with the coats and they were limiting people to 15 coats, then it was 10, and then when I was leaving it was 7!  I didn't need a coat, but I had to grab one because everyone else was! :-)

Here is your basic brake down of prices.  Kids-$5, Women and men's $10, boots-$25 (except bates, $20) apparel, $5, light coats $20, winter coats $25.

Here is a pic from their facebook page of some shoes.  remember this is just men's size 9 and you have this on both sides!  Each pair $10!!!

I was very overwhelmed and very unprepared, but overall I think I did pretty good.  Here is my Loot. :-)

Here is my favorite pair. :-)

As I left, here is a pic of the line.  Very Long and all the way to street, but worth it!
So, like I said, everyone will defiantly have to come next year and ship all your shoes back to your houses via UPS! :-)  I think they are wanting to do this now right before school starts.

National Night Out in Rockford

We went downtown and had some fun. We sat in a fire truck, got our face painted, dunk a police officer, got ourselves fingerprinted, had snow cones and many more activities. They should sleep well :-)

Dinner......

At the the table. A rarity at this Dubin household. It was good to have Jeff home this weekend. He probably won't be able to do it again until March. :-(

? :-)

So I haven't posted I a while, so I thought I would just browse my pics and post one. Well as I was doing so, I came across this one. James must have had my phone at some point. Not quite sure what to make it of it. Clearly I am giving Eli a bath :-)

Chuck e cheese

Eli is officially a big boy, wearing big boy underwear. He has completed his potty chart and has kept his undies dry with no accidents for two days now. As his last reward we all went to chuck e cheese.

Macbeth's muse for the day: People watching at chuck e cheese! Almost as good as people watching at wal-mart :-)
